The Quiet Times

I believe in the sun when it’s not shining, I believe in love even when I feel it not, I believe in God even when he is silent.” – Author Unknown

Sometimes we hear Him speak into our hearts on a daily basis. Sometimes it is a quiet whisper. Sometimes it almost seems a shout. But then there are times when He doesn’t seem to say anything, even if we want Him to.

It is in those times, especially if you are feeling discouraged, that we must remember that He is still with us, even when we don’t hear Him. Even when we don’t feel Him. God promised to never leave us or forsake us, therefore He is always nearby watching over us. He promised it–therefore He does it. Simple.

It’s kind of like having a friend sitting by you quietly. You don’t always have to talk, but it’s nice to know they are there. We can have that confidence in God. His presence with us is constant. Don’t you find that comforting? I do!

Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.” [Ps 139:7-10 NIV]
