Freedom

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. [Galatians 5:1 NIV]

I love to watch birds flying…especially eagles. Imagine that feeling of soaring in the air, above everything, without a care in the world. To me, that’s an image of freedom. Particularly the freedom that Christ gives.

It is not about the absence of prison bars, or the lack of rules and regulations, although those things can feel quite liberating. We can feel trapped by our own emotions. Jesus offers freedom from fear, from guilt, from shame. He gives us freedom to be who He designed us to be, freedom to forgive and accept ourselves, freedom to have a great future.

And that’s just the beginning of liberty in Him. This kind of freedom has depths beyond what we can imagine. I am amazed by how much freedom I feel and yet, I know there are still things that hang on to me.

So, if you feel trapped, reach out to Jesus and accept the freedom He offers. You don’t have to be a slave to anything. Be free!

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. [2 Corinthians 3:17 NIV]
