How’s Your Son-tan?

This post is courtesy of my husband. He wrote and read this to me the other night and I thought it was very pertinent. Enjoy. 🙂

If one goes out into the sun and stays in the sun, you get a suntan. People who see you know you’ve been in the sun. They say “My, you’re looking healthy. My, you’re looking tanned. You’ve been in the sun haven’t you?”

Wow. If one spends time with God, we are changed by the radiance of God. By being in His presence, we get a spiritual tan. People notice. They say, “My, you’re decisive. My, you’re peaceful. My, you’re changed.” God’s presence changes you. It impregnates you — fills you, changes you.

Yet, as a suntan fades if you keep out of the sun, so too do the effects of being in the presence of God fade. If you don’t go into His presence and don’t immerse yourself in Him — His word — His Son — His Holy Spirit — His anointing — the “Son-tan” fades.

Like a suntan needs upkeep, so too does God’s effects that change you — infect you with Holy anointing. So today, even if it is a busy day, remember to do a little “Son-baking“. 🙂

And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” [2 Corinthians 3:18 NIV]

  1. And you don’t need to worry about the harmful effects of UV rays with this sort of tan either. I love this sort of brilliant analogy. Thanks to both you and your husband for the thought. 😀

    • Yes, I’m quite proud of my brilliant hubby. 🙂 So good we don’t need any Son-protection, eh? 🙂

  2. What a great analogy Morrie! Love it!

    • Thanks Katelyn, I’ll pass it on to him. XXOO
