AFL Grand Final, MCG, September, Every Year
All of Australia is watching, including over 100,000 people in the stadium.
- There are so many flags, balloons and streamers, they cannot be counted.
- The roar of the crowd is deafening. People chant, scream, whistle, and wave their arms & flags around.
- The atmosphere is electric.
The Dedication of Solomon’s Temple, Jerusalem, the seventh month, 1005 BC.
All of Israel were there to celebrate.
- So many sheep and cattle were offered to the Lord, they could not be counted.
- 288 musicians plus 120 trumpeters played praise and thanksgiving to the Lord, joined by all the singers – it was deafening.
- The atmosphere … the presence of the Lord came down and filled the temple with a cloud, and the priests could no longer perform their service.
Imagine what could happen if we praised our Lord in Heaven just as well as we cheered for our favourite football team? Could we see the glory of God fall in our churches? Personally, I’d rather see that than who wins the Grand Final … what about you?
“Praise the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens.
Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness.
Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre,
praise him with timbrel and dancing, praise him with the strings and pipe,
praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals.
Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD.” [Psalm 150 NIV]
