These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.” [Colossians 2:17 NIV]

For some, reality is what they see on TV – on those programs which show the warped, exaggerated, mostly set-up, part of people’s’ lives they want to expose to the world. For others reality is whatever they wish to define it as.
Well, I’m here to say, that reality can only be found in Christ. In my own life personally, everything before Him was colourless and dull. The Bible says that everything before Jesus was merely a shadow, an empty silhouette of what could be. In Christ, we have fullness and abundance of life (see John 10:10). It’s like stepping from flat 2D to 4D – everything becomes more vivid and rich. For me, though it sounds cliché, the sky became bluer, the grass became greener and people became amazing creations I just had to get to know. There is a new depth to life. Reality like you cannot imagine.
This is my reality. 🙂 What’s yours?
“See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ.” [Colossians 2:8 NIV]
Yes, well said!!!
It’s one of the great and amazing mysteries that a change of heart which may appear so simple on the surface turns out to be one of the deepest and most awesome things, working its way through the whole fabric of life.
So true, Paula. I know for me how much everything else faded to the background. 🙂
Just last night in a Bible Study, we were encouraged to consider the good things which we love about our ‘reality’ with the Lord Jesus today… are only a hint of how much awaits us in eternity. Amazing now… even more amazing to come 🙂
I love dreaming about how awesome the ever-after is, and no matter how great we imagine it will be, it will still surpass and surprise us. Love it! 🙂
